Site indexed by search engines

In order to get indexed and ranked by the search engines you need to register a domain name and have it pointing to the Point2 website. However, this is just a start! The main reason for registering a domain name is to allow for effective marketing of your website. This includes search engine marketing. Your new domain name can now be submitted to search engines to help better your chances of being found on the Internet.

First off, you should edit your browser title, meta description and meta keywords. Search engines use your website title, keywords and description to index your site and rank it. Thus you should use words in these areas that include your name, your area of service and specific industry keywords (e.g. "John Smith real estate serving Scarborough and North York"). The browser title is the most important for ranking and indexing according to major search engines at the current time. To edit this information:

  • Sign in to your Point2 account at
  • Click Websites from the top menu
  • Click Agent Site
  • Click Edit next to the website needed
  • Use the Pages drop down menu to locate the page you wish to edit
  • Click on the Page Settings link from the top of the page
  • Make the changes and click OK

A couple other tips to assist in getting your website indexed and ranked high by the search engines are:

1) Edit and customize the content on your website.

2) Obtain relevant links to and from your website.

Having rich, real estate related content on your website will allow the search engine spiders to crawl your website and discover relevant, valuable information and thus give your website a better page ranking. Acquiring valuable links to other real estate related websites or to websites containing valuable information for your viewers will also spark the search engine spiders. And of course, having highly ranked websites linking to your website will make your page rank sky rocket!

Some search engines may require you to pay before you are listed on their site, however you may discover that these search engines may be worth the listing fee. To submit your site for search engine indexing (request to have your site listed on a search engine), go to that particular search engine web site ( and look for a link on that page that indicates an area where you may submit your site. Be aware that if you are looking to submit your site for free that getting listed will take longer. Also, please note that search engine optimization is a lengthy process. It could take from 4 to 6 months for the search engines to begin indexing your site.
