Point domain name

Existing domain names that you already own elsewhere can be used and assigned to your Point2 product whenever you are ready to do so. Your domain registration provider can assist you in making the necessary name server updates to get your domain name pointed properly. There is no charge for having a domain name purchased outside of Point2 pointing to your website. We will host your domain for your website free of charge. The following information will help you to make these changes.

Name servers
Primary name server:
ns1.point2.com
Secondary name server:
ns2.point2.com

Once you make these changes you can point your domain name to your website by doing the following:

  • Sign in to your Point2 account at www.point2.com
  • Click Websites from the top menu
  • Click Manage Domains
  • Click Point Domain on the right in the Related Links box
  • Step 1 on the page is the same information as above telling you to point the domain at the current registrar
  • Step 2 needs to be completed so enter in the domain name after www.

  • Click Add Domain

Once the domain name is added to the account, you will need to assign it to a product so that it pulls up the desired website:

  • Click Websites from the top menu
  • Click Manage Domains
  • From the Product column use the drop down to select which product you want the domain name assigned to

  • Click Apply Changes at the bottom of the page

Note: If you have an email account that is associated with your domain name that is currently hosted with your domain registrar you have a couple options for maintaining this email account. You can set up the same account in your Point2 account after the domain is pointed. The other option if you want to keep it as is at the other company, let us know before pointing your domain name, as we will need to update what are called the MX and CNAME records. MX and CNAME records are provided by the current email host and will be used to direct your email back to them while keeping your domain name with us. It is best to do this before the domain name is pointed, because some registrars may take up to 24-48 hours to update the name servers on their end. Once the domain name has been successfully pointed to your website, please allow for 24-48 hours for the domain name and any associated email accounts to begin working with your website.
