Have you heard the news? We are (finally) releasing WordPress blogs for our Professional and Elite customers!
We've put together a bit of an FAQ below that we are hoping will answer all of your questions:
When is this happening?
We hope to have a first iteration available by the end of June or beginning of July.
What will be available in the first iteration?
The first version of WordPress blogs will have some of the following features:
- Ability to create one new WordPress blog (even if you currently have an old blog)
- Single sign on from your Point2 Agent account to your WordPress blog
- Select from a few different themes
- Activate approved plugins
- Share blog posts on social media
Will I be able to auto post new and updated listings?
Not in the first version. We hope to have this released shortly after.
Will I be able to transport all of my existing blog content to the new blog?
No. In deciding to build a new blog platform, we had to overcome many hurdles that have prevented us from doing this in the past. In previous discussions of moving to a new blog platform, we have always struggled with what to do with existing content. Because the existing blog is on a now-outdated platform, moving content over is not as easy as it might seem. While this is something we may be able to tackle in the future, for now we are encouraging our customers to start building up their content on the new blog platform.
What is going to happen to my old blog? Will it go away? Will I lose all my content?
No and no. Until we are able to preserve your existing content in some way, we do not plan on removing any existing blogs. The old and new blogs will run in parallel, but as mentioned in the previous question, we strongly encourage you to start adding a lot of content to your new blog to help build the SEO.
I have an existing WordPress blog. Can I use that?
No. While we would love to be able to hook your existing WordPress blog up, for technical and security reasons, we are unable to do so.
Can I install x, y and z plugin?
We have a number of plugins ready for all our customers to activate upon creation of their blog. Again, for security reasons, we are unable to give full access to install plugins that have not been approved by our technical team. If you have a plugin that you feel all our customers would benefit from, we would love to know about it and have our technical team review it.
